Kids’ Portraits
Tuesday Feb 21st and Wednesday Feb 22nd, 9am-noon

This multi medium two day kids’ workshop allows kids to explore faces! Try your hand (and your face!) at mask making and exploring portraits through collage. For youth ages 8 and up. $55 (materials included).

If you could see your soul, what would it look like? We will take a journey to discover our soul’s desire, exploring the arc of your life over four weeks of painting, mixed media, or whatever medium whispers a personal truth to you.  All ability levels welcome. $125 (materials included).

Human Anatomy
with Chris Taylor
Wednesdays, Jan 11-Feb 15, 6:30-9pm (6 week)

This figure-drawing course will focus on human anatomy, and will be using charcoal as its main material.  It will consist of both lecture and drawing time from a live model.  Emphasis will be placed on the whole as well as individual parts of the human body (emphasis will be given to torso, arms, legs, hands, and feet)  All skill levels and abilities are welcome.  $210 (materials included).

Using charcoal and ink washes we will explore drawing from a model in this class. Emphasis will be placed on anatomy and human proportions as well as movement and balance.  New and experienced students welcome. $125 (materials included).

Leaded Stained Glass Window
with Joel Abbott
Sundays, Jan 15-Feb 12, 6-9pm (5 week)

Explore a variety of essential stained glass techniques in this beginner/intermediate class, including pattern making and design, glass cutting, soldering and finishing work.  Each student will leave with a 24” x 24” leaded stained glass panel. Students are encouraged to come with design ideas and photos of stained glass examples.  $275 (materials included).

Stone Setting
with Rowan Law
Mondays, Feb 13-27, 6-9pm (3 week)

This jewelry making class is for intermediate students who have experience with silver and base metals, and know the basics of soldering, sawing, filing, texture and riveting.  Move beyond the basics and learn stone setting in a variety of projects is this 3-week course.   $175 (materials included).

Students will learn how to solder, saw, file, texture and rivet using silver and base metals.  Projects will include a silver ring, a pair of silver earrings and a simple pendant using the various techniques learned in the class.  $185 (materials included).

Soldering Small Sculpture

Learn the basics of soldering and create your own small sculptural work of art. We’ll provide the solder and a variety of metal scraps to work with, but feel free to bring additional little bits of metal to incorporate into your one-of-a-kind mini sculpture. Teens welcome.  $65

The music emphasizes community, beautiful polyrhythmic melodies and infectious rhythms that encourage participation by everyone, no matter what your musical experience. New and experienced musicians welcome.  Youth 9 and up welcome in Kids classes.

Color Theory

This course will be completed using acrylic paints and the time will be divided appropriately between lecture and color theory exercises.  The subject matter will be predominantly still lives, designed differently for each lesson and will give each student time for ample color mixing and exploration.  $145 (materials included).

This oil painting course will be an exploratory course into the realm of abstraction.  The class will move from semi-abstraction into full abstraction. Students will learn the basic skills to assemble a teapot.  Instruction will include placement of spout, handles, lids, as well as aesthetics vs. function in the body of the piece.  Students should be comfortable throwing on the wheel. $65

Thursday Feb 23rd, 6-9pm and Sunday, Feb 26th, 2-4pm
Get ready for Spring!  Students will throw and assemble clay baskets.  This course will focus on negative space in 3-dimensional forms, and work on handle-making skills on a larger scale.  Baskets can be hand-built or thrown, and students should have previous experience working with clay. $65

Family Light Painting
Saturday, February 25th, 10:30am-Noon

Slow down that shutter speed and embrace the darkness! Come to a blacked out Canvas studio to create light paintings in photographs. Bring flashlights, leds, anything that makes light. We’ll have a camera and email you your work or bring your own camera and we’ll try our darndest to figure it out!      $ donations accepted
