Making art is an experience your students, friends, family, employees, or organization will remember for a lifetime. It’s also a great activity for enhancing creative thinking, encouraging teamwork, and bringing friends together. Best of all, it’s fun.
At the Canvas, your group will enjoy a customized, hands-on experience making jewelry, pottery, felting, printmaking, drawing, painting or marimba. Our instructors are professional artists experienced in guiding everyone, including complete beginners, through a playful, rewarding and productive experience.
Whether you are celebrating a special event, organizing a workplace retreat or looking to reward employees, the Canvas can help create an art adventure for you. Browse through our sample art experience packages and call so we can help design the perfect catered art party for you.
Painting: Choose from encaustic painting with pigmented beeswax, watercolor over oil pastel, acrylic or oil painting. An artist familiar with the medium will provide you with skills and inspiration. Painting is a great medium for producing individual work or creating a group installation piece.
Printmaking: Carve into soft linoleum and create inked prints. Each participant can take home artwork ready to frame. This is also a wonderful medium for producing sets of cards for individuals or organizations. We’ll provide the envelopes!
Felting: From soft raw fiber to completed felted product, this is a terrific art form for active kids and adults who are afraid of painting and drawing. Experience the magic and science of wet felting and dry needle embellishment.
Pottery: A wonderful activity for a group, but know that pottery requires a return trip to the Canvas. Clay needs time to dry and be fired in a kiln before it’s glazed… and then fired again. Tile making and creative hand building projects work well in an art party setting. Schedule a return trip to glaze and pick up your finished pottery.
Marimba: Learn as a group to play Zimbabwean marimbas. The music emphasized community, beautiful polyrhythmic melodies and infectious rhythms that encourage participation by everyone, no matter what your musical experience.
Cost: $150 an hour; includes a teaching artist, Canvas staff support, and all art materials for up to 14 participants. Our gallery is available for a reception if you would like to bring food. We’re creative, flexible, and welcome your phone calls! For more information about art catering contac the Canvas at 607-586-1750, or email us info@canvasarts.org.
