ABOUT THE EXHIBIT

A gallery show will really test an artist's endurance due to the concentrated inspirational energy that is born out of creative thought and process. During this huge human effort, simplification, experimentation and repetition are the useful lessons offered and even though the results are quite predictably static, the dynamic energy of thought and process remain vital.

BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

I was raised from birth on a large privately owned country estate in Old Westbury, New York. My father was the gardener on the estate and a man of numerous artistic talent, including that of horticultural design and planning. My mother was a great mom, an outstanding homemaker and cook. She sang beautifully to her own accompaniment on the upright piano.

At an early age I became particularly interested in birds and by age nine with encouragement from my father and mother, I began sketching in watercolor. A few of these earliest attempts have survived, thanks to my parents.

My wife Connie and I lived in Vermont for eight years; in Queens, NY for four years; in Nashville, Tennessee for thirteen years; and currently in Juneau, Alaska for close to thirty-eight years. We have six adult children, six grown grandchildren and presently one great-grandchild.
