The Canvas Community Art Studio & Gallery is a community benefit organization dedicated to supporting the life-long discovery process through the arts. The Canvas is a grassroots center in the truest sense. Our goals, which we achieve through direct services and programming, are to provide access to space and an audience for artists, quality performances and exhibitions for our community and arts education for all. We are also integrally involved in community building efforts in our neighborhood and in the larger community in Alaska.

The Canvas is an invaluable resource for artists and the community. Founded in 2006 as the community outreach and day habilitation program for REACH, an independent, nonprofit organization serving people who experience disabilities since 1970, The Canvas has become a vital presence in Juneau and Southeast. We provide year-round programming including classes in the visual, literary, pottery and music for all skill levels; technical and business skills classes for artists; performance venue, visual art exhibitions, poetry readings and events; slide lectures and workshops. Our facility houses a large open visual arts studio, pottery shop in-progress, and formal gallery with small performance capabilities.
